What is Parliament?

In most Parliamentary democracies like Saint Lucia; the government is made up of three branches or arms which are assigned different roles.  Those three branches are; the Parliament (including the Senate or Upper House), Cabinet and the Judiciary.  The lower house of Parliament comprises the individuals elected by the people on General Elections day.   The Upper house or Parliament or sometimes called the Senate; are appointed from the General Public by factions of the Lower House of Parliament and or the Governor or President;  which ever exists.  Together, the two houses or Parliament are empowered to make laws and approve money bills for the country.
